Hi, Welcome to Katherine’s Corner!
I am excited about the opportunity to have my own blog. I look forward to sharing my heart with you on the World Wide Web. Since I will enjoy the “bully pulpit,” I should tell you a little about myself.
I am the middle child of three. I have an older brother and a younger sister, both of whom live in Tucson, Arizona. I live at home with my parents and three dogs: Charlie, a miniature Schnauzer, Roscoe, whose heritage we haven’t discovered yet, and Daisy, an Australian Shepherd.
You might say the most exciting part of my life was at the beginning. I was born three months premature, and the doctors weren’t sure if I was going to live. Along with my early arrival, matters were further complicated when they couldn’t get me to breathe for three minutes (I have always been hard-headed!). I am happy to say that I survived! But due to the lack of oxygen, I do have brain damage which manifests itself in a disability known as Cerebral Palsy. My motor skills are slower than others and it takes me longer to do things such as typing, writing, etc, and I require walking assistance while in public. I consider myself blessed because the Lord not only saved my life, but spared me from other complications like blindness and mental disabilities. He also blessed me with parents who have a strong faith in God and a belief that I could succeed despite my limitations.
Because my dad worked for the U.S. Border Patrol, our family has moved eight different times to five different states, most of which are located on the Southern border. The best part of moving around the country is seeing how God has provided for my special needs in every place we’ve lived.
I graduated from Blaine High School in Blaine, Washington. My educational background also includes an Associates Degree from Imperial Valley College, Imperial California, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Diego State University-Imperial Valley Campus in Calexico, California. I majored in History and minored in English.
After my dad retired, we settled in Tucson so that we could be near my brother and I could attend a major university without leaving home. In the pursuit of a dream and a career, I joined Jerry B. Jenkins’ Christian Writer’s Guild. It has been a challenging and a rewarding experience.
Apart from pursuing my education, I enjoy reading in a variety of different fields, and I am an admitted political junkie. I like keeping up with current events. I like to watch sports as well…
My hope and prayer is that this blog will feed your mind, minister to your heart and encourage you in your walk with the Lord according to 2 Peter 3:18 “…that you may grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Thanks for stopping by. And the Lord bless you!
